“Mum, why do people get divorced?”

My daughter asked me that one evening at the dinner table… and instead of searching for the “right” answer, I went to something simpler.

I asked her to imagine choosing a car at twenty—one she’d have to drive for the rest of her life.

At first, it feels perfect.

But life changes. It grows. Expands.

And sometimes what once fit you… no longer can.

It doesn’t mean it wasn’t beautiful.
Or that it wasn’t right at the time.

It just means… you changed.
